The Ukrainian Marines 38th Brigade fired cluster and conventional artillery rounds onto a Russian trench and bunker complex in eastern Ukraine. A majority of the videos we have archived showing Ukrainian cluster munition strikes also show the combined use of standard high explosive artillery rounds.

The combined fire missions allow the Ukrainians to ration the use of their high explosive shells, while the cluster submunitions are practical in engaging personnel and offer a better chance of landing explosives into the trenches.
