This security camera footage, recorded, in turn, by a guard on the China-Myanmar border, shows a soldier working for the Myanmar military junta. He attempts to fire a mortar, but the round is a dud. The soldier attempts no proper corrective or self-preserving action, and is almost laughably unconcerned. In fact, the Chinese guards are heard laughing at him.

The soldier handles the misfire with the relaxed attitude of someone who clearly doesn’t understand the danger they are potentially in, like a child on a ledge. Seriously, I’ve seen fireworks in trailer parks handled with more due caution and acumen. He keeps his fingers over the barrel after loading the round, which thankfully misfires. The round pops out just inches from him at 0:18, causing the Chinese audience to crack up as the Junta man leaves, looking dejected. “Aw, man…”
