Assad Regime Again Targets Turkish Proxies With Cluster Munitions

The Russian-backed Syrian government has again targeted a Turkish-backed militia controlled oil processing and storage facility with cluster munitions in the Tarkhin settlement in the vicinity of al Bab in northern Syria over the weekend.

The Turkish Defense Ministry blamed the Syrian regime and said that the bomblet-laden cruise missile originated from a Syrian military base operating out of the Quayres Airfield. The Turkish government also claims to have carried out retribution attacks, although no details were released to support that statement.

Earlier in the month, similar attacks took place on the same storage facility and another in the city of al Hamran, which resulted in massive infernos as the large quantities of stored oil ignited.
