Apocalyptic Scenes Recorded by Kharkiv Residence Security Camera

Tonight, as Russian shelling continues, a home in the city of Pivdenne of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine captured the above footage with their home security camera system.

For twenty years, the world has largely ignored the conflicts raging around the world. It's easy to do that when the people in most conflict zones live in houses made from mud and sand instead of wood and nails. I think that's why this situation in Ukraine is hitting everyone so hard. It's not a bunch of third-world individuals fighting over religious zealotry and tribal control. It's two first world nations who both have popular and common tourist destinations that are fighting with one another.

Watching this video, it could be my front yard these bombs are falling in. It could be my neighbors front yard. It could be your front yard. I think maybe that's why this footage has been hitting so different. It's not some far away land, at least, not in the cultural sense for most of us.

For the purpose of context, this footage was recorded on a home security system in the city of Pivdenne of the Kharkiv region. The rounds are presumed to be part of an on-going Russian shelling campaign in the area. We do not know if there were any casualties caused by the bombs.
