The A-29 Super Tucano is a Brazilian turboprop light attack aircraft designed to carry a wide variety of weapons, including precision-guided munitions. The A-29 is a practical choice for air forces with limited budgets, because the aircraft and its maintenance are relatively affordable.

The Afghan Air Force received at least 20 Super Tucanos from the US since 2016 and has used it to carry out thousands of strikes against the Taliban. In March 2018, the Afghan Air Force dropped a GBU-58 Paveway II 250 lb bomb, which was the first time the Afghan military used a laser-guided weapon against the Taliban.
