4 Angles Of Iranian Ballistic Missiles Hitting US Consulate In Erbil

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IIRGC) claimed responsibility for the 12 ballistic missiles that targeted Kurdistan's capital city of Erbil in northern Iraq.

The Iranian military stated they were targeting an Israeli “strategic center, ” but the missiles also managed to damage an unoccupied US Consulate building that is currently under construction. American officials claimed no US personnel were hurt in the attack. The Iranians were reportedly carrying out retribution strikes as Israel killed two IIRGC soldiers in the previous days.

The missiles were likely Fatah-110 short range, solid-fuel, guided ballistic missiles, the same weapon type used by Iran against US forces in the January 8, 2020 missile attack of the US military bases in Iraq, which resulted in several wounded US soldiers. The missiles were reportedly fired from Iran's Khordo Factory, an IIRGC missile base west of Tabriz.

American mainstream media has been nearly silent on the Iranian attack, likely trying to save face for Biden's recently reported consideration of oil deals with Iran as well as Biden's desire to rekindle Obama's deal to allow Iran to develop nuclear technology.
