Syrian Rebel Stares Down Tank Barrel Before Destroying It

Footage released in 2012 shows a Syrian Rebel running out directly in front of a Syrian tank and firing an RPG at it while essentially staring down the barrel and mounted machine guns.

Getting it out of the way right out of the gate, there's a bit of compressed perspective happening in this video. The distance between the rocketeer and the armor is actually much further than you would think. I'm guessing the range from the individual firing the rocket to the tank is likely forty to fifty yards. Due to the perspective of the camera, and the size of the tank, it looks like the shooter is within spitting distance of the tank, but the delay between firing and impact with the rocket tell a different story.

Still, at fifty yards, that tank could easily kill the rocketeer using the machine guns mounted to the front of the tank's turret. It appears as if behind the tank there is something else going on, as feet can easily be seen behind the tank. This could be a hint that the tank crew was already in the process of abandoning the tank, or it could infantrymen that are supporting the tank maneuvering behind it. Either way, something has gone terribly wrong in this scenario for the tank to be taking this hit.
