Russian Spetsnaz Working as Regular Infantry Conduct Break Contact Drill

GoPro video released by Russian sources of what is most likely a Russian Spetsnaz team shows a solid break contact drill being conducted with an unknown Ukrainian unit.

One of the more public and commonly known complaints within the Russian military community right now is the frequent misuse of Russian Spetesnaz in the war with Ukraine. The Spetsnaz are a special operations community known for housing some of the most ruthless operators in the world. As a result of their highly specialized training, they have advanced beyond standard Deep Battle doctrine and moved forward into operating in a more western fashion, with leadership being present at every level.

Unfortunately for the Spetsnaz, that means they're often one of the only units in a region that are capable of keeping pace with the more modernized Ukrainian forces, and since the beginning of the conflict we've been seeing reports from these Spetsnaz operators stating that the Russian Officer Corps is under-utilizing them by placing them in bog standard basic front-line infantry operations.

Now, from this video alone, there's no way to be sure that's what we're looking at. These guys could be behind Ukrainian lines harassing rear positions for all we know, but what is more likely is that they're breaking contact after harassing a Ukrainian trench in a probing attack meant to uncover machinegun or mortar positions. This second option seems most likely based purely on the amount of complaining I've read in select Russian Telegram chats, which is a shame for these guys because they should be getting heavier mission sets than simple probing attacks.
